Trophy Care:

HIDES
Having decided on what the completed mount should be the hide is then removed in the field or if possible at the camp. Skinning is done by expert local skinners under supervision of the hunter and guide. It is then immediately tagged with the hunters name and details. Once tagged it is washed with cold fresh water allowed to drip a short while and placed in a salt bed. The amount of time it will remain in the salt bed depends on a number of factors e.g.. size and thickness of hide ,type of mount etc. After this step it is hung out and air dried which will leave it in a raw prepared state. Next step is dipping in insecticide , it is then folded and packed ready for shipping.

SKULLS
Once free of the carcass the skull is tagged and excess meat cut off. It is then immersed in a solution of salt water for a few days. The remaining meat is then cleaned from the skull using a high pressure cleaner. They are bleached in the sun, lower half of the skull is cut and removed, tags are checked and it is then dipped and packed ready for shipping.

US DESTINATIONS
Once export permits have been approved by the South African government, which can take anything up to 3 months, we will then deliver the consignment to our shipping agent who will then ship it to the address supplied by the hunter. The costs are $45 per animal for dipping and packing the trophies. You must secure the services of a Customs Clearing Agent to receive the trophies. Shipping charges will vary according to the size of your collection.

EUROPEAN DESTINATIONS
Because of the EU regulations requiring very stringent clearances for raw prepared trophies the trophies are delivered to a taxidermist who will dip, pack and ship. We will raw prepare pack and deliver to the taxidermist for a nominal free of $15 per animal.

SOUTH AFRICAN DESTINATIONS
Should you choose to have your trophies mounted in South Africa we will raw prepare, dip and pack then personally deliver the trophies to the taxidermist. The rate is the same as a US destination at $45 per animal.
